NIA arrested three al-Qaeda terrorists today, after conducting raids in the several parts of Madurai. According to the police, the three allegedly planned to attack 22 top leaders of the country including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Allegedly, three, who were identified as M Khareem, Asif Sultan Mohammed and Abbas Ali, were involved in threatening embassies of various countries in India.
Suspecting that Al-Qaeda activists were operating from South Tamil Nadu, NIA raided several places on in and around Madurai. "Explosive materials and arms have been seized from them," police said, declining to elaborate.
The arrested three, were allegedly running the al-Qaeda unit in South Tamil Nadu. Adding to it, they even took part in the explosions that took place in various courts in India, police said.
