Except the two Telugu states- Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, most of the states in the country received the new Rs. 500 notes.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetization, Rs. 2000 is the only new note, the Telugu states has witnessed. So this is turning out to be a fatigue to the bankers, who are unable to exchange huge currency just using Rs. 100 notes and also public is reluctant to take Rs. 2000 note, because of the non availability of the change. So the requirement of issuing Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes to the Telugu states is very high.
Even in RBI’s recent allotment of Rs. 2000 crores to AP for money circulation, it provided only Rs. 100 and Rs. 2000 currency notes. Shocked over this, the Finance department officials of the two states, reached out to their respective Chief Ministers. The concerned officials then maintained that, the RBI is giving first preference to those states, where the requirement of Rs. 5000 notes is low.
On the other side, the analysts opine that, RBI is ignoring Telugu states, just like the Centre is doing, in several issues like the special status, issue of funds and so.
