Central government allowed the farmers around the country, to buy seeds with the old notes. The farmers can buy the seeds from all the Central and State-run outlets using the banned demonetized notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000.
Seeds can also be purchased by farmers from PSUs, National or State Seeds Corporations, Central or State Agricultural Universities. However, identity proof will have to be shown while buying the seeds.
On the other side, RBI, in a statement said that holders of current, overdraft and cash credit accounts, which have been operational for last 3 months or more, may now withdraw Rs. 50000 per week. Such withdrawals may be disbursed predominantly in Rs 2000 denomination bank notes, it added.
Centre further clarified that, this enhanced limit for weekly withdrawal is not applicable for personal overdraft accounts.
