Huge drop in liquor sales in Hyderabad
Liquor sales drastically came down in Hyderabad with the demonetization affect. Reportedly, a drop of 30% to 50% is observed in several areas of the city. The drop was never been this high, a few of the wine shop owners said.
Boards were put up at the restaurants and bars in several parts of the city stating that Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes will not be accepted. The customers even tried to dispose the old notes requesting the staff to take commission, but their attempt did not show much impact. However, swiping machines in the bars and restaurants is making the liquor sales have an average run.
While banning the liquor is anyway out of the question, it seems, the demonetization is at least able to control the consumption of alcohol to some extent.
