New Rs. 50, Rs. 100, Rs. 1000 notes soon- Centre
In a latest development, the government announced to launch new Rs.50 and Rs. 100 notes, without withdrawing the existing notes.
"Design of Rs 50 and Rs 100 notes will also be changed. These notes with new design features will be slowly infused (into the system)," Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das said, adding that, “the existing Rs 50 and Rs 100 notes will continue to be legal tender."
Not stopping there, even Rs. 1000 notes having new design and security features will also be issued soon. Unwilling to confuse the public with the existing and banned Rs. 1000 notes, the new ones would take time to circulate. The new Rs. 2000 notes are already in circulation.
Adding to it, the government specified that, the new currency notes will be issued through ATMs too from Friday.
