Foreign liquor in Telangana outlets now
Being the main source of revenue, no government can dare to announce the banning of liquor. Instead, they work out the best options to increase revenue.
In a similar attempt, TRS government is now planning to permit Elite Outlets in the state. The License holders will be permitted to sell foreign branded whisky, beer, wine and few premium foreign brands manufactured in India. Along with the belt shops, these brands will also be available in malls, supermarkets and multiplexes in the urban areas. No License holder will be allowed to sell liquor above the MRP price, as computerized bills generation is mandatory.
The License holders will have to pay Rs. 1.25 crores per annum as license fee. Elite Outlets might fetch an additional revenue of around Rs 200 crore to the State Exchequer. The state government is aiming to generate revenue of Rs 12,500 crore just from liquor sales this year.
