The resignation of Arnab Goswami, the popular Editor-in-Chief and President (News) of Times Now, has took to the storm, in the media. Goswami hosts the raucous talking-head daily debate on Times Now’s flagship show, The Newshour, at 9 pm, which has spawned several imitations on other channels.

After he declared to quit, the sources said that, Goswami is planning an independent media. He "didn’t want to get stuck in the television media” as it exists today. Goswami said that “he wants to lead” the change that the media will go through, mentioning digital journalism, the sources added.

“He said he doesn’t want to gather moss, he wants to be a rolling stone,” a senior journalist said adding that Goswami said he would “like to keep up with the times” which he “can’t do in his current role.”

Meanwhile, Navika Kumar, Times Now’s political editor said, “there was no such finality” on when the last episode of Goswami’s prime-time debate show will air and that “nothing is known so far” about his last day in his current role.
