Kerala turns ODF today
After Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim, now its Kerala’s turn to become the third Open Defecation Free (ODF) state in the country. The announcement was made on the state's foundation day on Tuesday.
“Kerala has become an ODF state today,” Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary Parameswaran Iyer said, adding that over 1 lakh villages across the country have become ODF.
Responding to the issue through the Twitter, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted, “Kerala becomes first high density populated state in the country to achieve Open Defecation Free status today on its formation day.”
If the sources are to be believed, very soon, even Gujarat, Haryana and Uttarakhand will be announced as ODF states.
