The Hyderabad High Court strictly went against Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments for not prosecuting the students involved in mass copying in SSC and public examinations. It even asked both state Chief Secretaries to file affidavits explaining the steps taken to curb mass copying in public examinations.

On the other side, Counsel for the petitioner told the court that after filing the PIL, the governments had installed CCTV cameras in certain centres. Explaining about its impact, he said that a school in Mallapur in Karimnagar district, which used to get 100% results, got only 40 per cent results after cameras installation.

Pointing out that percentage had become the only criteria for parents and teachers, the Bench said, “We are all well aware what happens in Bihar and the fate of top rankers in that state.” TS counsel said the government was taking steps to install CCTV cameras in all public examination centres.

Revealing about the steps taken by AP government, AP counsel said that, the government introduced Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation System to weed out the menace of mass copying. While cautioning that the authorities would be summoned if they failed to file the affidavits, the bench posted the case after four weeks.
