Mulayam Singh Yadav in a press meet today, clarified that there are no difference of opinions in the family. But the absence of Akhilesh Yadav to the press meet is strongly proving Mulayam’s statements as wrong. Shivpal Yadavm on the other hand was seated next to Mulayam Singh.
Mulayam stated that Akhilesh will continue to be Chief Minister for now, but he did not guarantee anything for the next elections. He tried to escape from the question too, which made the Samajwadi party activists go aggressive and block the entrance of the party office with large protests.
“First give us a majority and then we will see," said Mulayam Singh. He also said that the last state election, after which Akhilesh was made Chief Minister, "was fought on my name."
On the other side, Akhilesh made it clear that he is not going to step down from the CM chair and does not want to launch a political start up. Akhilesh has been largely credited for the super success of Samajwadi Party in the 2011 state election because of his rebranding of the Party as one committed to the development and education of Uttar Pradesh's youth.
But for some unknown reasons, the constant fight between Akhilesh and Shivpal disturbed the party operations and this even grew the distance between Mulayam and Akhilesh, the analysts opine.
Last month, Mulayam removed his son Akhilesh as the head of the party in Uttar Pradesh only to replace him with Shivpal, which clearly indicates that the bonding between the brothers is jolting the son big time.
Shivpal, removed on Sunday from the cabinet by Akhilesh, has received Mulayam Singh's firm endorsement in virtually every fight he has picked with Akhilesh in recent months.
