As the Telugu states are bifurcated and that too investments are being invited from the foreigners. A single airport in Hyderabad for both the states would be tough, as the investors would be unwilling to spend a lot of time, travelling on the road.
So the Telangana government has decided to increase the number of airports in the state. As the investments increase, the demand for helicopters and airplanes is inevitable. So the state government is planning to include Telangana under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RPS) for availing the subsidies. It said that the state has every eligibility to get its name included in UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, through which all the tourist places in Telangana could be availed good benefits.
As all the air travel services will be controlled by the Central government, Telangana approached the Centre. Explaining about the industrial and tourist importance places in Warangal, Kothagudem, the state government has sought 14 new airports. Adding to it, airports constructed during the Nizam period and even Warangal airport, which is not in use, are sought to bring into use.
