The issue of Rohit Vemula, the PhD student in Hyderabad central university, whose suicide disturbed the operations of the entire university over 20 days, is now back into the news.

A video featuring Rohit was out on the YouTube, in which the HCU student was claiming that he was a dalit. He even adds that, he comes from a poor family and his parents were daily wage labors. 

Rohith Vemula's friends have released the video as a rebuttal to the report of a commission set up by the centre's Education Ministry, which raised questions about his Dalit status and attributed his suicide to "personal reasons" and not discrimination.

Rohit along with four other students were suspended from the university. It was after that, the alleged dalit student committed suicide claiming that the university is showing the discrimination on the dalit students. While the issue is almost put aside, saying Rohith belongs to non-dalit category, how the latest video creates stir is to be seen.
