While the number of new districts confirmed to be 31 and all those would come into implementation from this Dussehra, here are few key impacts, the government and the public face.
- According to the government estimates, to administer the new districts, 3252 new posts will be created and a majority of them will be in the revenue and police departments. Some of them will be filled in by promotions.
- Due to the number of the district headquarters, the House Rent Allowance component for State employees will go up, thus making the cost of governance high.
- A plethora of nominated posts will be up for grabs and members of the ruling TRS stand to gain.
- Though it is expected that formation of new districts may result into boosting of the construction, it seems, the situation is changing now. “Not many big buildings will be required to house the new district offices.
Unless and until economic development percolates to bottom of the pyramid, we can’t expect any big push in construction,” the Managing Director of a leading cement company said.
