The heavy rains in Telugu states killed at least 8 people due to the worsened conditions in several parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Witnessing the 3rd straight day of heavy rainfall, the state government asked IT companies to allow employees to work from home as it sought Army's help in rescue operation in some areas.

Six people were killed in Guntur district, three in Visakhapatnam, four in Medak and adding to it 6 others were injured in separate rain related incidents.  

Guntur and Secunderabad train services remained suspended for the second consecutive day, as tracks over two kms was washed away due to overflowing rivulets. All the schools in the Greater Hyderabad area in Telangana were declared holiday on Friday and Saturday.

"They (Army) have been given maps and other information of areas like Gachibowli, Nizampet, Alwal and Hakimpet. They are willing to swing into action whenever we call them," an official said.

Meanwhile, IT Minister KTR appealed to those living in low lying areas to move to safer places, adding that the government has kept two helicopters ready as part of the rescue operations.

Miyapur, Bachupalli and Nizampet and few such low lying areas have continued to be inundated since the last two days. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation or GHMC has been supplying food packets to the people in the rain-affected areas.
