Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has sought permission to cut 2,500 km of road stretch for strengthening the water supply distribution network in peripheral circles of GHMC.
“We have compelling reasons to give road cutting permissions to departments like HMWS&SB, TS Southern Power Distribution Company (TSSPDCL), private telecom agencies for laying underground cable lines for strenthening and upgrading the infrastructure,” GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said.
During the rains, Hyderabadis are finding tough due to the battered conditions of roads. While the public is waiting for a move from the officials regarding this issue, the latest pipeline work decison is expected to put Hyderabadis in more worse condition atleast for another 6 months.
The road digging works will be performed at a cost of around Rs. 1900 crores to lay water distribution pipelines of 2,500 km in the Greater Hyderabad limits. While Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) has sanctioned Rs 1,700 crore as a loan, the state government shares the balance Rs 200 crores. Construction of service reservoirs and providing feeder mains as inlet mains are the other inclusions of the project.
