Not just Karnataka and Tamilnadu, but the impact of violence regarding Cauvery water dispute is even felt in Hyderabad.

All cable TV network operators were issued an advisory by Hyderabad police, saying that, no program shall be transmitted in the cable service which is likely to incite violence or contains anything against maintenance of the law and order.

“It has been brought to the notice of the Authorized Officer under The Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Act 1995, that visuals having huge potential for inciting mob violence which relate to the ongoing violence in Bangalore City are being transmitted/retransmitted through the Cable TV Networks in Hyderabad City,” the advisory said.

The violators of program code would be prosecuted under section 16 of the said act. “The concerned Channels violating the Program Code are liable to be prohibited from transmission in public interest under section 19 of the said Act. In view of the large congregations of people expected on account of ongoing Bakrid and Ganesh Festivities in Hyderabad City, the managements of all the TV Channels/ Cable TV Network Operators are requested/advised to adhere to program code in the interest of maintenance of public order and peace in Hyderabad City,” the advisory added.
