'Getmi', an app, founded by a young IT engineer Shravya Reddy, was introduced to share a bike ride in just a click away.
The startup has launched its operations in May this year, but it was officially launched on Sunday. The people who want to travel from one place to another across Hyderabad can use the app, through which hired shared bike services would be available. 173 bikers have joined the app for offering bike rides and over 5000 rides have been taken by the users.
Speaking about the innovative idea, Shravya said, "Travelling from home to workplace has become an ordeal in Hyderabad with journey taking hours. The journey time gets even longer, if one uses a car. Also we observed that many two-wheeler riders travel single. We wanted to make time taken for travelling to workplace and within city, quicker and economical.”
Shravya developed the app along with her classmate M Yashwanth. The team has now grown into 11 members and got funding from 2 mentors.
“The sharing bike rides are available in all areas in Hyderabad, but the services will be provided depending upon the availability of bikers in the area from where the request comes. Therefore we request users, for now, to order a ride before half an hour. As getmi app is getting popular we are confident that our bike pool will increase and a ride can be offered immediately after the request,” Shravya said.
Getmi currently has 50 full time engaged bike drivers, providing rides to companies in B2B category. Getmi bike riders provide services to Apollo Health care, Foodmingo and other companies.
