September 17th, is considered as ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ and it is one such day, the opposition parties are curious about, in Telangana state, considering it as a chance to jolt the ruling TRS in the state.
While the TRS maintained mum all these days, it is now MP Kavitha raised her voice against Hyderabad Liberation Day. "Moderate Telangana people do not believe in the Liberation Day. We believe in a day where Telangana state was merged into the Indian union," Kavitha said responding to the issue, and also alleged that BJP is playing divisive politics.
Earlier, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that, though India won freedom on August 15th 1947, those living in the erstwhile Hyderabad state had to wait for celebration till September 17, 1948, when the region was liberated from the tyrannical Nizam's rule and integrated with the rest of India. Naidu alleged that, BJP is not coming forward to celebrate due to the pressure from Asaduddin Owaisi’s MIM.
Meanwhile, it is known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ on motorbikes across state from August 15th to September 17th.
