When the Telangana government has decided to reorganize the districts in the state, the response from the public is tremendous and however it is mixed from the opposition parties.
After the state government has even invited the public's feedback, about 30000 people responded towards it, raising objections on the geographical boundaries, administrative adjustments. Considering those, the government is making the necessary changes.
In the beginning, Warangal was planned to divide into 4 districts- Warangal, Hanamkonda, Bhupalapalli and Mahbubabad districts. But as Greater Warangal has been extended as a tri-city, people here are getting dissatisfied as Hanamkonda is being divided from Warangal, for the fear of losing its identity.
Adding to it, Hanamkonda acts as a centre for education, health and other administrative issues. This issue was taken to Telangana Chief Minister KCR, who then reviewed it and advised to drop the idea of bifurcating Hanamkonda.
However, Bhupalapalli and Mahbubabad would go for the reorganization. As per state government's idea, each district should have at least 18 mandals and 13.33 lakh population, but in Warangal alone, there will be 30 mandals and 23 lakh population, making it the highest populated district, in case it is not disturbed.
Dropping the Hanamkonda district proposal, instead Warangal rural district would be formed with all the other mandals by excluding Warangal East constituency. The state government is planning to christen the district as Bhadrakali district. As the district has historical importance, there is a proposal to name it after one of the emperor of Kakatiya dynasty.
