A Hyderabad techie has developed an app named ‘Muslim Freedom Fighters’ and has already received more than 1000 downloads on Google Play Store, among which 60% are from the non-Muslims. 

Speaking about it, the techie Syed Khalid Saifullah said, “I felt that Muslims in the country do not have role models from their own community. They should know about the people who sacrificed for their freedom.”

The app contains 155 levels to 155 different Muslim Freedom fighters and in each level, there are stories, pictures and quiz based information about the concerned freedom fighters. Users answering 3 out of 5 questions can be advanced to the next level. However, without quiz, the users can still grab all the information. All the freedom fighters mentioned were divided into several categories such as rulers, martyrs, bureaucrats, journalists and poets among others.

Explaining about his inspiration behind this initiative, Khalid said, “When I googled Muslim freedom fighters, I could find only a handful of names like Tipu Sultan. The aim is to change this prevailing notion that Muslims did not contribute to the struggle for India’s freedom.”

“A user can also form a group to compete with others. Once one clears all the levels, a certificate of appreciation ‘A tribute to Muslim freedom fighters’ will be sent to the user,” Khalid said, adding that, he took support from the books written by Syed Naseer Ahmed to formulate the questions, along with his friend Amanulla Khan.
