Witnessing the advancement, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), with an outlay of Rs 25.50 crore, is now  constructing 4 police barracks at various locations in the city. 

This new proposal would be in lieu of 2 acres of police quarters at Rasoolpura and 5 other police properties in different parts of the Hyderabad, taken for the  Metro Rail stations and other works. Each barrack, admeasuring about 50000 sft, will accommodate about 250 police personnel, NVS Reddy, HMRL Managing Director said.

Responding on the requirement of these barracks, Mahender Reddy, Commissioner of Police, said that during law and order problems, central security forces and other rapid action teams which are brought to Hyderabad, are finding it tough to stay in the city. 

So these police barracks are located strategically for providing them residence. These will also be used as the skill development and training centres for the Telangana police, Mr Reddy added.
