Mallanna Sagar project is the most talked about issue in the political circles, as it gave enough mileage to several opposition parties, which almost lost its existence in Telangana. 

After the Telangana government has implemented the land acquisition, several villagers turned reluctant to it. Opposition parties, smelling the situation, jumped into it and the unity of all the opposition parties for Mallanna Sagar, boosted the villagers to revolt against the government. 

Left with no option, Irrigation Minister Harish Rao has then landed into the issue who reached up to the villagers to listen to their issues. He managed to convince most of the villagers and assured few that, Telangana Chief Minister KCR, would adopt their villages. It was then the villagers got convinced.

Harish Rao was touted to be most smart politician in TRS, but after KTR started doing his best in all the portfolios he was awarded for, Rao had to take the back seat. Finally, it is now, the irrigation minister’s voice is being heard big again. Finally, one thing is for sure, Mallanna Sagar controversy activated both opposition party leaders and also leading party leader like Harish Rao.
