Designated driver concept to eradicate drunk driving in Hyderabad
Taking a concern on the increased number of accidents due to drink and drive, Hyderabad police have proposed to introduce designated driver concept.
According to this concept, a person should be accompanied with the people attending the bars and night out parties and pubs and that designated person should not be served alcohol, so that he/she would safely drop all the drunk people back to their home.
Hyderabad police are planning to make it compulsory for the pubs and bars to tag the "designated driver" and ensure that he or she is not served alcohol. This system, however is not new, as it is already being implemented in US and for India, Hyderabad would be debut to have a designated driver.
