Professor Kodandaram arrested
TJAC Chairman M. Kodandaram has been arrested today, giving a shocking turn to the Mallannasagar issue.
Professor Kodandaram, along with Pittala Ravinder, Gurijala Ravinder Rao, G. Venkatreddy, Bairy Ramesh, Gopal Sharma, R. Prakash and others were arrested at on their way to meet Telangana Chief Minister KCR.
Villagers fearing submergence due to the proposed Mallanna Sagar project have marched towards inter-state highway, and the police stopped them near Yerravalli village in Kondapak mandal, leading to heated arguments, following which a protester allegedly attempted self- immolation.
Irrigation Minister Harish Rao, meanwhile has appealed people and police to exercise restraint, saying, “people should not fall into the trap of Opposition parties”
