Jan Dhan Yojana, which has been started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi across the country, is showing the mixed results.
Modi, whose intention is to pool the money of the poor into the banks, by providing them bank accounts, has started this programme. This brought thousands of crores of money into the banks.
But the situation is different in Telangana, out of the total 75 lakh Jan Dhan account holders from the state, 25 lakh holders do not have a penny in their account. The banks are supposed to provide loans up to Rs. 2000 to Rs. 5000, to all the poor utilizing the scheme. But the banks are unable to move towards providing loans to those maintaining the accounts empty and due to this the account holders are missing other facilities like insurance etc.
