Haritha Haram, the prestigious programme of the Telangana government, through which is aiming to spread greenery in the state, has been launched today.
In this two week long programme, the government is aiming to set up 46 crore saplings. Telangana Chief Minister KCR has launched the programme at Gundrampalli near Chityal in Nalgonda district. Other government officials will take up the plantations at several other places in the state, including the government offices.
On the first day of the programme, i.e, today, the government is aiming to plant several saplings over 163 kms of highway by over a lakh of people. Out of 46 crore saplings, 25 lakh will be planted in Hyderabad itself. As per the official release, the government has opted highways like Hyderabad – Vijayawada, Mumbai, Warangal, Bengaluru and Nagpur, to plant the saplings on the either side of the highway.
