A Hyderabad businessman has killed his wife, and set fire after she sought to leave him for another man.
According to the police, Rupesh Kumar Mohnani, a stock broker residing in Madhapur, was enraged when his South African national wife named Cynthia sought divorce from him.
Cynthia, a club dancer in Congo, got married to Mohnani in 2008 and moved to Hyderabad. She later fell in love with a Frenchman, whom she met on Facebook. A marriage application has been sent online, seeking Cynthia’s signature on it.
It was then, the lady sought divorce from her husband, for which he refused to give. The issue took more heat which finally led to Mohnani strangling her to death. To get rid of the body, he cut it into parts and stashed them in a suitcase. He later drove to Madanapalli village near Shamshabad, where he set the suitcase ablaze. While returning from the place, his car got stuck in the mud. The locals, who came to help, noticed the blood on the car and immediately alerted the police, suspecting.
The police found the lady’s body and sent it for an autopsy to Gandhi hospital. On the other side, through interrogation, Mohnani confessed to the crime and was arrested, registering a case under IPC 302.
