Telugu states fight over judiciary division fearing biased rulings
The government of the dual Telugu states- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana now fear biased verdicts by jurists dominated by the regional affiliations.
A Telangana minister said on the condition of anonymity, "Given the dominance of the Andhra-origin jurists, the Telangana government fears it may not be successful in obtaining favourable rulings in the disputes with Andhra government."
On the other side, even the Andhra government has similar fears over asset-sharing and protecting interests of Andhra-origin people in Telangana. The high court at Hyderabad is now acting as common high court for both states. Hyderabad remains the common capital for both the Telugu states till 2024.
