Samantha as handlooms ambassador
While Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan recently announced his willingness to be ambassador of handlooms, Telangana government approached Tollywood actress Samantha to represent TS Handlooms.
Samantha said that, she had a special bondage with weaver's community and handlooms. She explained that she had conducted a research about the various handloom clusters in Telangana State and showed a piece of handwoven cloth she had brought from Karimnagar weavers. She outlined some of her plans on how value-addition can be taken up to increase sales of handlooms.
To increase the handloom trade, Samantha also explained about some specific value additions to works of Gadwal and Pochampally handlooms. She also discussed about the possibility of improving the cloth quality from Siricilla powerlooms by introducing newer digital technologies.
IT Minister KTR appreciated Samantha for extending her support to handloom. Upon his request, the actress accepted to promote Telangana handlooms.
